Aspen CBE to Hold Web Conference on Low-WageWorkers in the B-School Curriculum
Despite playing a critical role in the economy and representing a significant portion of most
companies' personnel, low-wage workers often go unaddressed in the business school classroom.
On Friday, November 20 at 12 Noon Eastern time, Aspen CBE will hold a web conference that aims
to begin reversal of this trend.
Mark Popovich, Senior Program Officer at the Hitachi Foundation,
a major funder of business in society issues, will offer some introductory comments about why
low-wage workers are so important in the context of business and the broader economy.
Stacy
Blake-Beard, Associate Professor of Management at the Simmons College School of Management
and Ellen Ernst Kossek, University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University 's Graduate
School of Labor & Industrial Relations will speak about how they incorporate topics related to
low-wage work and workers into their teaching. Maureen Scully, Assistant Professor of Management
at chad.ayotte@aspeninst.org.
